So I weighed in at Weight Watchers last Saturday and had lost 4.6 lbs. I hadn't weighed in for 2 weeks. I was pretty excited about that. I'm going strong on week 2 with no sugar. I'm gonna try some cookies with almond butter and honey and WW pastry flour this weekend. But honestly, I haven't even eaten my sugar free ice cream (or as DH says - NO SUGAR ADDED!) but once this week. No craving for it.....

I've been tired this week and fighting something. Mom has bronchitis and I'm hoping I didn't get it from her. I feel better today, but feel like I could sleep for ever! But instead, I'm gonna go embroider - its been far too long. January usually is an embroidery free month since I do so much before Christmas. This year was no different. I did two sets for gifts. This set of tea towels was for my mother in law.

They were done from a 1970's transfer I got at the antique store for 97 cents. The only problem is that they were yellow transfers and VERY hard to see on the white, but they'd be perfect for a darker fabric - may have to try that....

Gonna go try and get crafty tonight - after I clean the stink off the kidlets! Night!

So I mentioned the other day that I went to an antique store and browsed. Alone. I make a point to state that because it rarely happens. I'm usually with my mom and the girl (my bella) and I'm always so busy answering to "Kelli look" or making sure the girl hasn't found some $100 vintage hat and purse ensemble that she MUST have!!!
So the girl had a cheerleading camp with her aunt and I dropped her there and off I went. First stop was to Marshalls where I found the awesome jewelry holder (I'm going back next week to get a necklace holder) and I got an amazing grey pencil skirt for $9.99. Then it was off to the antique mall in Northglenn. I went intending to get my vintage table cloth fix, but the dishes were calling to me. Here is what I got:
I got this beautiful ring box for $9.50. That usually is above my budget, but it was exactly what I was looking for for the night stand (as seen in a previous post) so I splurged!
A pristine set of 4 Butterfly Gold Pyrex coffee cups marked down to $6.00 for all of them.

And this cool green relish tray. I think my mother in law has one exactly like it, but it was only $5.00 and it just spoke to me. I can't wait to use it. Oh, and the Coronet magazines. I wasn't familiar with them, but they were 50 cents and I loved the old ads and pictures and articles. these are from 1957 I think. You can read more about the Coronet magazing here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronet_(magazine)).
I enjoy thrifting more than antique shops just because you can usually get a better deal, but this day I think I did pretty good.
Oh, and today was another really good day. Its amazing how being organized can make you feel empowered. Also, at a lunch meeting today, I only ate protein and lots of green salad and I actually SKIPPED THE AMAZING CARROT CAKE that was provided. Go Kelli!

I just had to write about how proud I am of myself! The last three days I have managed to cut the white carbs and sugar out of my diet. That is a feat for me since I am a self proclaimed sugar-a-holic! I also am trying to limit my wheat intake - just to see.... I haven't been feeling well the last two weeks, very gassy (TMI -sorry!) and my stomach has been acting up. I decided it was time to change my eating habits just so I could feel better (imagine that....). So far, I'm feeling really good these past few days.

Ever since I bought this exact thermos:

I've been bringing cooked oatmeal from home. I only add cinnamon and a slight bit of splenda (trying to cut that out too or look for a more natural alternative) and either almond milk or FF half and half. It's been a huge success because I can keep it warm til I get to work and then I eat it over the course of an hour at my desk. This REALLY helps me stay full and I just feel better eating it! I know I can keep this up because it's in writing! Yesterday's lunch was zucchini curry soup and today's lunch is black bean soup. See, its all good - Kelli, you can do this!

I'm listening to this and enjoying it.

Seriously, a year since I've posted?

I guess I thought I would be good at this blogging thing, but I guess I was wrong. Another year, or really OVER a year, and the same problems: disorganization, cleaning and all. DH (dear husband) and I have decided that we are hoarders. Not eligible for an A & E drama, but we just have so much crap! We used to live in 970 square feet with a 460 square feet basement.....

and then two years ago moved into the green house with 2600 square feet....
And we have packed the green house to the MAX! the green house has a 2 car garage and a one car garage and they are both full! Plus a loft area that is full. What the hell?? Today we talked about getting rid of some stuff. I objected, then realized its just stuff. We WILL get rid of some stuff! It feels good to say lets get rid of stuff. Life is far too short to even use all of this stuff! I'll stay accountable to blogland and update when stuff has been gotten rid of...First need to start with organization.....

Last night I cleaned my bedroom. I have a love affair with jewelry ever since I was introduced to Premier Designs (I used to sell even!) and when I get home from work, my jewelry comes off and it gets put wherever. So, I knew I needed to get a handle on it. Most of it lands on top of my night stand as embarrassingly witnessed below:
Ok, jewelry and alot of other junk. So I cleaned it up as well as organized my jewelry! As happily shown here:

So much better! And I organized my jewelry to make it easier to put away and pick out - before it was in a premier designs duffle bag in black trays. But yesterday I was a Marshalls and got the new holder - I love it!

Cool huh? I also went to an antique store yesterday, but thats a post for another day. Now off to being domestic.

Today I accomplished the following: Ate well, vacummed and dusted under bed, flipped mattress, cleaned duvet and mattress cover and changed sheets, baked cookies for the kids lunch. Very productive indeed!

I'm on my way...

I am always writing about how unorganized I am and how I need to get organized. Well, I'm on my way. I developed a home charting schedule for me to follow at home to keep our house cleaner - these two kids are crazy messy. So, I've been doing that this week and its working well. I also decided to go into work late on Thursday so that I could clean the house in the morning so that we don't spend our weekends cleaning.

THEN, I made a noteboook for work to keep all of my project categories seperate for work so that I can find what i need. AND develop a schedule for projects that need to be done.

Truly, this is making my life easier and I already feel more accomplished.

I've been baking more too - now that I've given myself permission to not do house work all the time since its scheduled - I made some killer pumpkin bread the other night and tonight may make some peach cobbler for Mr. Dahl. I'm trying hard not to get caught in the cupcake craze, but I have a hankerin to buy some frosting tips and cupcake transporter containers. I keep telling myself its just an excuse to buy something, but I love to bake and cupcakes are GREAT for school parties. We'll see how long I hold out.

I'm having a great hair day (I got it cut again and I'm not loving it....) and listening to the Lemonheads - its another good day......

My First Blog

I've been so enamoured of blogs lately, that I decided to start one on my own. The only thing is that most of the blogs I visit are so creative and forward thinking. I'm great at copying someones idea and running with it, but I'm not so great at coming up with things on my own. This blog is obviously pretty boring at the moment, but I think I will start adding things to help me gain some focus. Like I really need to keep track of whats bothering me, what I'm thankful for and what I want. They are all too many and I think this could be a fun way to help me narrow it all down. So today here are my thoughts:
  • I'm bothered by the fact that I KNOW I have a few things I HAVE to get done and I can't be disciplined enough to do those things before things like this blogging
  • I'm Thankful for Wednesdays - I get to have lunch with all of my awesome work girlfriends
  • I REALLY want a fall inspired vintage tablecloth

I'm having a great hair day, a so far good eating day and listening to vintage Duran - Planet Earth. Its a good day......
